Yamaha Guitars 50th Anniversary Limited Model

The FG180 was Yamahaʼs first folk guitar, dating back 50 years to 1966. This model has been developed based on the specs from that year, recreating a modern version by applying Yamahaʼs latest technological expertise. More than a mere reissue, the FG180-50TH is a refined model that Yamaha is proud to introduce. By treating the top board with Yamaha’s exclusive A.R.E. process, which gives the instrument a rich and vintage quality tone, we aimed to reproduce the rich sound of an FG180 that has been played for many years.

Due to the strong response from fans even today, we used our signature “red label” inside the guitar. This label includes a piano image that was only seen on the labels of the very earliest models, together with “Nippon Gakki,” Yamaha’s former company name, in place of “Yamaha Corporation.”

Now, Yamaha has found a way to apply innovative techniques developed for its high-end L-Series handcrafted models to improve tone and playability while maintaining outstanding value. The result: 15 exciting new FG guitars. Each new model features an inverted L-block which creates a deeper low end and a tighter body-neck connection. Additionally, solid spruce tops, die-cast chrome hardware, and unique non-scalloped bracing help these new FG guitars build on the longevity and legendary status of the originals. Designed to capture the guitarʼs full body resonance, ARTʼs ability to faithfully recreate natural tone and dynamics means that the subtle differences between APX and CPX guitars are perfectly recreated, allowing you to pick the guitar that suits your style and know that character will always shine through. Like all CPX models the new CPX700 II comes with a slightly smaller body than a full-size jumbo. That makes it much more easier to handle. But don\'t worry: The delivered sound is still bigger than life! The handsomely crafted guitar features a solid spruce top and nato back and sides and produces a bright, richly textured sound - one that, thanks to the solid spruce top, will gradually mature. But thatʼs only half the story, because the instrumentʼs new one-way pickup system, in combination with a #3-Band EQ (with integrated tuner, provides a perfect amplified sound too.
